Orrin Hatch Satan Himself
Orrin Hatch, crackpot senator and Satan himself.

Anyone who file shares, "beware"! Sen. Hatch is looking for a way to get the Government to destroy your hard drives.

There are a lot of angles to this, and I encourage people to find out more about this man. Don't go only on what I say, but seek out info and form your own opionions on this man. I checked out his web site

This man wants guns back on the street and heavily supports the repeal of the Brady Bill and also believes that it was a great mistake at making the Pledge of Allegiance no longer mandatory. He wants to force the pledge down Americans throats.

This senator from Utah is going after the people who download any copyrighted materials or use P2P networks. He also claims that the use of P2p networks like Kazaa or Morpheus are National Security and personal security risks. Well personal risk, yeah duh, the whole internet is becoming a personal security risk but we all take our chances, because of our great use and dependance on computers. Computers are as much our choice as say hand guns that can kill people. Why is it ok the let people have the right to bear arms and not ok for us to download a song or 2. Perhaps this is an unfair comparison but this Senator definetly has his pet causes, but they only support certain personal liberties while trouncing on others. In his eyes it is an outrage for people not to have guns while he wants to take away what personal choice we have in the matter of file sharing.

Even better here is a short blurp from the wise old Senator:

" The surprise remarks by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, during a hearing on copyright abuses represent a dramatic escalation in the frustrating battle by industry executives and lawmakers in Washington against illegal music downloads.

During a discussion on methods to frustrate computer users who illegally exchange music and movie files over the Internet, Hatch asked technology executives about ways to damage computers involved in such file trading. Legal experts have said any such attack would violate federal anti-hacking laws.

"No one is interested in destroying anyone's computer," replied Randy Saaf of MediaDefender Inc., a secretive Los Angeles company that builds technology to disrupt music downloads. One technique deliberately downloads pirated material very slowly so other users can't.

"I'm interested," Hatch interrupted. He said damaging someone's computer "may be the only way you can teach somebody about copyrights."

The senator, a composer who earned $18,000 last year in song writing royalties, acknowledged Congress would have to enact an exemption for copyright owners from liability for damaging computers. He endorsed technology that would twice warn a computer user about illegal online behavior, "then destroy their computer."

Is this guy for real. He goes on about how this is also a security risk and a manner for terroist to get ahold of secret governement info. Is this what it has come to. To protect ourselves from the "Terrorist" lets terrorize and harrass the American people.

Oh and the fact that he owns recording royalties doesn't color or put a conflict of interest in his position. This is democracy at it's finest. My question is this, what comes first : Law or Democracy? Secondly, there are millions of people violating copyright laws perhaps more than that. A great percentage of the world violates this law. I pose this question, is the law itself not just to govern the world today. The world and the rules are changing, should we be reigned in and punished by a law that doesn't really relate to the world today. I honestly see this as a change in perspective among my generation and younger generations. Music is a form of art. It is my opinion that art is a form of expression. It is the choice of the artist whether or not to share this, but somewhere people didn't want this to be only a business. They wanted the music and the forms of entertainment. People didn't want to be overpriced and wanted access to all of this. They wanted to expand on what they could have and they didn't want to feed the money hungry "Man". This honestly has nothing to do with copyright and everthing to do with MONEY. People were used to over charging us for this and now that there profits are down they want to punish you. Here is one more site to look at MTV.com I want to fight this man and be an intergral part in his removal from power.
